Albums

Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 as a result of the collaboration.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for lacking hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group The group held auditions for the new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.

Toto has released a variety of music videos. The band has also released several compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video of the band is "Africa" which has over one billion views. The video is set in a library with the band performing atop a stack of African books.

The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity, after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in the United States.
